DocuSign Information

DocuSign captures e-signatures for electronic forms. It is best used for standard forms that require more than one signature. KSU DocuSign accounts are available to all faculty and staff.

KSU DocuSign Accounts

All KSU eSignature DocuSign accounts must be created by IT. It is possible for users to use their Kysu email account to also create a DocuSign Freemium account. However, freemium accounts are not part of the KSU system and thus have limited capabilities (e.g., limited sends, being unable to access to KSU DocuSign templates, etc.).

To request a KSU DocuSign acccount, visit this page and submit the form:

KSU DocuSign Account Request Form

You can login to your account at DocuSign.com once your account has been created.

What if I already have a DocuSign Freemium account associated with my Kysu email?

Kysu email addresses can have both a freemium account and KSU eSignature accounts associated with them. If this happens, the user will need to set the default account to the KSU eSignature account. Details on how to set default accounts can be found on the DocuSign Support page.

  • Envelopes cannot be moved between accounts. The envelopes remain in the account in which was set as the default account whenever they were received.

  • Freemium accounts can be deleted by submitting a ticket with DocuSign support. Please contact the IT Helpdesk to have your freemium account deleted.

Using DocuSign: Templates and Powerforms

Before using DocuSign for the first time, please review the training materials found here.

DocuSign cannot be used to edit a Word document or PDF. It is recommended that all DocuSign templates be built with Word documents; PDFs do not retain the editing capabilities needed to make major changes to a document. If a department requests changes to a template built with a PDF and they do not have the original Word document, they will need to re-build the form from scratch using Word. All departments are responsible for updating and maintaining their individual DocuSign templates and associated Word or PDF documents.

Templates

Templates are electronic forms that can be sent to single or multiple recipients from a registered DocuSign account. The account holder sends an envelope to the recipient which tracks the progress of form completion.

PowerForms

PowerForms are standalone forms that can be linked to a web page for completion by the submitter. Envelopes do not need to be sent from a registered DocuSign account but can be tracked by the owner of the PowerForm.

More information on DocuSign templates and PowerForms can be found on Support.DocuSign.com.
