In addition to peer tutors, the center provides a welcoming space to study independently as well as receive individual academic coaching. We also provide success workshops throughout the semester.

Students who receive academic assistance from TLC will not necessarily submit error-free homework or perfectly-composed papers. Rather, TLC peer tutors help students improve their abilities to problem-solve; build skills and process mathematical concepts; and organize, develop, revise, and edit ideas while working toward mastering the writing process.

TLC sessions last approximately 30 to 50 minutes.

TutorTrac is TLC’s electronic login/logout system. When you enter and when you leave TLC, a staff member will assist you with this process. To sign in, you will need to know your Student I.D. number and the course number for which you are seeking assistance.

No, small groups are welcome, and many students find it beneficial to study with classmates. Furthermore, if you are looking for help with a class that is already being tutored, you ask to join that session to avoid waiting for an available tutor.

While walk-ins are always welcome, it is best to schedule an appointment if you would like to work with a specific tutor. You can schedule an appointment with your preferred tutor.

TLC currently uses peer tutors for academic support and supplements tutoring with an online platform, Upswing. Upswing provides professional tutors in myriad of subjects. 

TLC is located in the Student Center Suite 330. 

TLC provides assistance in mathematics, essay and research paper development, reading comprehension and textbook management, vocabulary building, oral communication, sciences, foreign languages, critical thinking skills, study and test-taking strategies, personal learning styles assessment, note-taking, and documentation.
