Faculty Professional Development

Under the current guidelines for PD funding, funds my only be used for domestic travel, to attend (in-person or online) professional and educational; conferences, workshops, and webinars for the purpose of professional development which will benefit both the individual and the University.

PD funds can also be utilized to support guest lecturers, speakers and consultants.

Eligible individuals may be awarded professional development opportunities during the grant year. Eligible employees are those that have been with the institution a minimum of 90 days.

Individual PD cannot not exceed $3,000 during any grant year.

Faculty-lead/Student research PD cannot exceed $6,000 during any grant year

Awards are contingent upon grant funds availability. For the current grant cycle, PD funds are available October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. Applications will be received between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024.

Applications must be submitted a minimum of thirty (30) business days prior to an event. Applications submitted less than thirty (30) business days prior to an event will not be considered.

If an event requires lecturers, speakers or consultants, all applications must be submitted sixty days prior to the event.

All Professional Development requests will be reviewed and approved by the Academic Affairs and forwarded to Title III, to approve the use of funds.

Do not make any purchases without approval. You will be fully responsible if your Professional Development is not completely approved by all required signatures. 

Reimbursement requests for retroactive funding will not be considered at any time.

Required documents/items include:

  • Departmental/supervisor approval (via website portal)
  • Conference/event agenda
  • Quote for registration
  • Quote for hotel accommodations (if applicable)
  • Quote for transportation (airfare, bus, or car rental, if applicable)
  • Travel Authorization Form
  • Flight authorization (if applicable)
