Appointment of Dr. Nyrée McDonald as Vice Provost of Academic Affairs
Kentucky State University (KSU) is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Nyrée
McDonald as the new Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. Dr. McDonald most recently served
as the Associate Dean for Graduate Enrollment at the University of Notre Dame where
she played a pivotal role in shaping the graduate admissions process and enhancing
the experiences of the graduate student body.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Nyrée McDonald to our KSU family in the key leadership
role of Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. Dr. McDonald truly embodies the ‘student-first’
mentality. Her leadership will undoubtably elevate student success across our campus,”
said KSU President Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo.
Dr. McDonald earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Tuskegee
University and a Master of Science in Environmental Quality Engineering from the University
of Alaska. Additionally, she pursued further studies and earned both her Master of
Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre
Dame.
Dr. McDonald’s dedication to advancing higher education is reflected in her extensive
service roles which include her former role as Chair of the Communications Committee
for the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools, membership in the Mentorship Program
Committee for the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals, and more.
She has also delivered numerous presentations at various institutions to encourage
graduate education and has authored and contributed to several notable publications.
Her leadership at the University of Notre Dame and her active engagement with national
organizations demonstrates her unwavering commitment to elevating higher education.

experiences, I’m excited to begin this new chapter at Kentucky State University. Change
is never easy, and it brings fresh energy, new perspectives, and new opportunities
to make an impact. While I will always cherish the journey that brought me here, I
look forward to embracing this next adventure, and contributing to the vibrant community
