Kentucky State University announces 2022 Spring Commencement Convocation speaker and special guest soloist
President and CEO of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Harry L. Williams will deliver the keynote address at Kentucky State University’s 2022 Spring Commencement Convocation.
TMCF is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black college community. Under Williams’ leadership, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund has created innovative partnerships, increased organizational stability, and advanced bipartisan support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
A strategic thinker and visionary, Williams concluded dedicated talent development partnerships with leading corporations such as The Boeing Company, Medtronic, Visa, Ally Financial, and Hennessy USA. He successfully reimagined long-term partnerships with companies such as Lowe’s, the NBA, and Wells Fargo, cementing TMCF as the premier source for major employers seeking top diverse talent for competitive internships and corporate careers.
As a former HBCU president, Williams leveraged his relationships with other HBCU presidents to increase cooperation between TMCF member schools, create a supportive network among HBCU leaders, provide a platform for sharing best practices, and act together to ensure institutional sustainability for all HBCUs.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Williams as our Commencement speaker this year,” shared Acting President Clara Ross Stamps. “As a TMCF member institution, Kentucky State understands the importance of this day in the lives of the students we serve. To have someone who is committed to the mission of HBCUs as Dr. Williams addressing our students is historic in itself. There is much to be gained from his experience and passion for institutions that serve the Black college community.”
Accomplished national recording artist, minister of music, songwriter, producer, and community activist Kathy Taylor will perform at Commencement.
Taylor began her recording career as a soloist with the legendary James Cleveland’s Gospel Music of America and The Mass Choir. She was the featured vocalist on songs such as, “Anticipation”, “It’s Your Decision”, “He Did It” and “I Got My Joy Back.” These projects, along with her captivating and live performances have catapulted Taylor into the national spotlight. In her never-ending quest to serve the Kingdom of God, Taylor answered her calling and founded Kathy Taylor and Favor, a multi-talented singing ensemble known for their meticulous and breath-taking harmonies.
