The Kentucky State University men’s basketball NAIA national championship teams from 1970-72 have been recently featured and honored in various publications. 

The teams were remembered and their paths to the championships were chronicled in the March 2022 edition of Kentucky Monthly. The nostalgia of the piece brings alive the swagger of the squads and the raucous crowds that came to watch them play. 

Travis Grant and Elmore Smith were featured by SLAM as two of the top 20 HBCU men’s basketball players of all time.

Smith was also recently honored by the Cleveland Cavaliers during the NBA All-Star weekend.
