Dr. Herman Walston
Dr. Herman E. Walston is currently in his 44th year at Kentucky State University, where he serves as a professor of child development and family relations. His career began at KSU in 1976 as an assistant professor of home economics and later founded the Rosenwald Center for Early Childhood Development, where he served as headmaster for 25 years. Prior to coming to KSU, Walston was an instructor at Bowling Green State University, where he taught child development and served as a preschool teacher in the university’s lab school. He is a member of several professional and civic organizations and a former member of the Kentucky Foster Review Board. He is an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society.
Walston earned his bachelor’s in elementary education and master’s degree in early childhood education from Alabama A&M University; his Ed.S. degree in elementary and early childhood education from the University of Toledo; and his Ed.D degree in curriculum and instruction from Vanderbilt University. In 2017, Kentucky State University granted him a Doctor of Humane Letters.
