Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration

The liberal studies education at Kentucky State University is characterized by intellectual breadth and depth. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration at KSU employs a curriculum that exposes students to the substantive approach and insight of different disciplines. This curriculum includes intensive training in analytic techniques and offers in-depth education in social sciences related to the management of public services.

To satisfy the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration, students must complete a minimum of 120 semester credit hours, including:

  • University Orientation (2 credit hours)
  • the University’s Liberal Studies Requirements (43 semester credit hours)
  • and 48 semester credit hours for the major in Public Administration, which includes 33 semester credit hours of Public Administration courses:

  • Additionally, there are 27 credit hours of free electives. Those can be taken in may field, but with no more than three hours in Cooperative Education (COE) used.

Minor in Public Administration

The School of Public Administration offers a minor in Public Administration. This program is available to every student pursuing a baccalaureate degree at Kentucky State University. A minor in Public Administration requires the completion of 18 semester credit hours.

The remaining 6 semester credit hours must be selected in consultation with the student’s minor adviser from 300/400 level Public Administration courses.
