The PAS Fund was started by the class of 1965 during its 25th Class In Reunion celebration in 1990. The class credits Dr. Herbert N. Watkins and Phyllis Stovall Glover as being instrumental in crafting the initial scholarship. Shortly after the fund’s creation, the KSU National Alumni Association adopted the PAS Fund as its official scholarship. Lytle T. Davis was appointed the first chairman of the PAS Fund Committee and has served in that position since its inception.
“Supporting the PAS Fund is a wonderful opportunity to help students who have followed in our footsteps at KSU. Fifty plus years ago, many of us found it a financial hardship to attend college but somehow we did and often with support from anonymous donors. These forward thinking donors believed that extending a helping hand to students who desired higher education would make the world a little better. Even with work-study and student loans, I was one of those students who benefited from the generosity of others with a vision for KSU students.
My KSU baccalaureate degree has enriched my life in countless ways and as an act of gratitude, I am thrilled to make a contribution to help another generation move ahead. What a worthy cause to give something back to those who follow us. A financial gift to our alma mater is a lasting legacy that will yield the greatest returns by helping students foster potential, gain experiences, expand minds, build confidence and complete their degrees so they may head out into the world and make a difference.”
