  1. What is an inauguration?

    An inauguration is a formal ceremony to mark the beginning of a new leader’s term in office. For universities, it is an important tradition that celebrates the installation of their president, highlighting the vision and future direction for the institution. 

  2. When and where will the inauguration take place?

    Date: Friday, September 20, 2024
    Time: 11:00 AM (Luncheon) 2:00 PM (Oath of Office)
    Location: Luncheon - Carl M. Hill Student Center Ballroom – 4th Floor
                      Oath of Office - David Bradford Hall, Carl H. Smith Auditorium

  3. How can I RSVP for the inauguration event?

    RSVP by emailing engagement@kysu.edu or by completing the RSVP Form.

  4. Is the inauguration open to the public?

    Yes, while the Oath of Office is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community, in order for us to properly prepare for the Luncheon, please RSVP.  We encourage everyone to attend and celebrate this significant milestone for KSU.

  5. What is the dress code for the inauguration?

    The dress code for the inauguration ceremony is business formal. Delegates and Faculty should wear academic regalia.

  6. Where can I park on the day of the event?

    Delegates and Pass Holders - Please park in Bradford Hall, Betty White or McCullin Hall parking lots. 
    Other Guests - Parking is available in all adjacent lots

    All parking lots have accessible parking.

  7. Will the inauguration be live-streamed?

    Yes, the Oath of Office ceremony will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend in person. You can access the live stream the day of the event on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/kystateu or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KyStateU/.

  8. How can I volunteer for the inauguration event?

    Please email Erica Dunn (erica.dunn@kysu.edu) if you would like to volunteer.

  9. Will there be any classes held during inauguration?

    Classess will not be held during the Oath of Office. Students, please contact your faculty member if your course is affected. Faculty should contact the Provost’s Office for any questions or concerns.

  10. Are partnerships or donations accepted to support the inauguration?

    Yes, Dr. Akakpo is committed to raising private support to ensure all students can matriculate through Kentucky State University. All funds raised after direct expenses for the inauguration will support the President’s Scholarship Fund. For information concerning partnerships or grants to the inauguration, please contact advancement@kysu.edu.
