Welcome home Thorobreds – Homecoming 2022 set for Oct. 9
Kentucky State University will welcome Thorobreds back to the Hill Oct. 9 -16 for Homecoming 2022. Get ready to remember, reconnect, celebrate tradition and the Thorobred spirt with a week of excitement uniting students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community with in-person and virtual events.
Events officially kick off Sunday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom with the Homecoming Prep Event. Thorobreds will be “Back on the Block” Monday, Oct. 10 to party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Student Center Courtyard followed by the Trap Bingo & Midnight Breakfast at 11 p.m. in Underwood Cafeteria.
Students will get an once-in-a-lifetime chance to control the music Tuesday, Oct. 11 during Aux Cord Wars Live at 8 p.m. in Bradford Hall.
Wednesday, Oct. 12 begins with the virtual Alumni Chapter Homecoming Kickoffs and Homecoming Artist Showcase both at 8 p.m.
Students get an opportunity to meet with alumni from their respective cities at the Student and Alumni Meet & Greet Thursday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Alumni House. KSUNAA will recognize highly successful alumni under 40 at the Forty under Forty Society Luncheon at noon in the Student Center Ballroom. The Golden Class will meet for an invitation-only reception at 6 p.m. in Chappell Building. For a night of elegance, join us in Bradford Hall at 7:30 p.m. for the coronation of Mister and Miss KSU.
Friday, Oct.14 has a little something for everyone. The KSUNAA Breast Cancer 3K Run/Walk starts at 6 a.m. at the YMCA on West Broadway St. and ends at the William Exum Center. Golfers will play to support student scholarships during the K-Club Golf Fundraiser at Juniper Hills Golf Course at 9 a.m. Vendors will flood the Student Center Courtyard for the annual Street Fest starting at 11 a.m. The annual Founder’s Day Convocation will take place at 10 a.m. in Bradford Hall with alumna Dr. Karen Townsend as the keynote speaker. Townsend is a thought leader who has educated professionals at every level and is well known for her approach to diversity education. The Alumni Run Skate Party at 3 p.m. in Bell Gymnasium and the “ProFashionables” Fashion Show at 8 p.m. in Bradford Hall are among the events that will wrap up Friday.
The annual Community Parade is set for Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. The route begins at the State Office Building and travels along High Street to Capitol Avenue ending in front of the State Capitol. Local officials, bands and dance teams from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana will participate in the parade. The Homecoming football contest between Kentucky State and Allen University kicks off at 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium. Arrive early to enjoy the atmosphere. Greeks will stomp the yard at 8 p.m. in the William Exum Center during the annual NPHC Step Show.
