KSU students will take center stage at Spring Liberal Arts Student Symposium
Kentucky State University’s Academic Affairs and the Whitney Young Honors School’s Spring Liberal Arts Student Symposium will showcase students’ academic presentations and submissions. The student-driven event will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14 in ASB Auditorium.
The symposium’s live performance of the Student Learning Outcomes aims to highlight KSU’s students’ achievements. The symposium also has created a tradition of providing an intellectual activity that can be shared with the Frankfort community.
Last year, several KSU students including Lacey Trautwein and Christa Watson participated in a fall symposium. Trautwein, who presented an academic paper on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, called the event “very enlightening.”
“As undergrads, many of us don’t get the opportunity to show off their research, but with this symposium, we can,” Trautwein said. “It was a wonderful opportunity and I encourage students doing all types of research to participate.”
KSU student Watson was one of the interviewers who posed questions to the student presenters. She said that the fall activity allowed the participants a chance to sharpen their public-speaking skills and be informed about their peers’ projects.
“There is a lot of research being done on this campus that I knew nothing about before attending the symposium,’’ she said.
