Capital Planning and Construction
Unit Mission
To provide faculty, staff, and students the best possible environment for teaching, learning, research and public service activities while preserving features of historic significance that signify KSU’s rich heritage as an HBCU. This is done by translating departmental needs into major capital projects developed to gain the maximum benefit to the University as a whole, consistent with its growth patterns and latest technological enhancements and facility attributes. Capital planning and budgeting, as well as facilities master planning, is implemented through design and construction, including renovations and land acquisitions to accommodate the demands of programming at this expanding University.
Unit Goals/Objectives
- To pursue State and alternate funding mechanisms to support financing of capital improvements/initiatives.
- To complete capital construction projects on schedule. To complete design of capital construction projects in a timely manner.
- To complete the Master Planning process addressing appropriate building construction and placement, organizes open spaces, sets logical flow patterns for pedestrian and vehicular circulation, and adequate support of utility infrastructure.
