KSU Transfer Direct Checklist

To stay on track for Transfer Direct to KSU, you should:

Be an A.A. or articulated A.S. degree-seeking student at one of the KCTCS partner institutions.

Sign up as early as possible for Transfer Direct to KSU.
Once you sign up, you will receive an email from your Transfer Success Coach. Your coach will be with you every step of the way–through application, admission, registration, and graduation from KSU.

Your Success Coach will guide you through this process.

Explore Career Goals and KSU Majors.
Find a major that’s right for you!

Meet with your KCTCS advisor.
Confirm any remaining degree requirements for your A.A or A.S. Are there any KSU prerequisites that you can complete before you transfer? Complete and submit your KCTCS graduation application by their application deadline. Even if you do not plan to participate in commencement activities, you must apply to graduate.

Meet with your KSU Transfer Success Coach.
Your Success Coach will get to know you, your situation, academic and career goals, your selected major, what motivates you, and what barriers you feel are ahead. In addition, your Success Coach will recommend the best time to apply to KSU based on your intentions and goals.

Apply to KSU.
When you are ready, apply online with an easy streamlined application.

Submit Official documents:

  • Transcripts from all colleges attended (we recommend using National Clearinghouse to request official transcripts)
  • High school transcripts (if transferring with less than 24 college credit hours) can be emailed to admissions@kysu.edu.
  • Official AICE, CLEP, IB, AP and TOEFL/IELTS score, if applicable.

Apply for Financial Aid.

Financial aid is assistance given from federal, state, or institutional funds to students so they can attend college. Financial aid at Kentucky State University is awarded to transfer students in much the same way as it is awarded to other undergraduate students. To receive aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is also required for need based scholarships.

KSU is proud to offer the Sleet Transfer Scholarship. Eligible students must have a minimum of 24 college credit hours and a 2.75 college GPA. Scholarship recipients will be awarded up to $5,000 each academic year.

PLEASE NOTE

  • High school transcripts are not required for transfers with an awarded A.A. or articulated A.S. degree from a KCTCS partner institution.
  • Test scores may not be needed for admission, but maybe be required for scholarship applications.
  • If you attended any international educational institutions, official course-by-course evaluation is required from Josef Silny & Associates or World Education Services for all international post-secondary (college or university coursework, if applicable).
