Louisville, KY - Witness talented athletes from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) compete in the inaugural HBCU National Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday, March 8 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. All are welcome to celebrate this showcase of HBCU excellence and cheer on Kentucky State University (KSU) student-athletes as they compete head-to-head against the nation's top HBCU athletes.

Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students/kids. Parking is free at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. 

KSU partnered with HBCU’s around the nation, the Louisville Urban League, and Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center to bring this prestigious event to life.

This partnership not only showcases incredible talent but also highlights Kentucky as a destination for excellence in athletics, with competitions held at a truly world-class facility," said KSU Athletics Director, Grant Stepp.

“We are extremely excited to have worked with our partners to have created and host the inaugural HBCU National Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center,” said Sadiqa Reynolds, President and Founder of the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. “This event embodies everything we sought to do when we built this amazing facility. Hosting events like this is crucial because they provide a stage for athletes to showcase their incredible talent and hard work. For many of these students, opportunities like this are a stepping stone to bigger platforms. We want to elevate and support these institutions, helping the students realize their full potential, while also highlighting the unique and invaluable contributions HBCUs make to the broader collegiate athletics landscape. By hosting this championship, we are not just creating a competition, but a community celebration that honors the spirit and excellence of HBCUs."

Pryor.

KSU’s Head Men and Women’s Track and Field Coach, Ramon Johnson, was among the committee of HBCU representatives that spearheaded the launch of this program.

“This is an opportunity for HBCU’s to be celebrated, showcased, and acknowledged,” said Coach Johnson. “It’s going to be a great event with some track and field, and some excellent athletes, and some culture that is HBCU.”
