Kentucky State University Ramps up for a Sensational Homecoming Week
Sunday, September 29 to Sunday, October 6
We are excited to bring you the 138th anniversary of Kentucky State University’s (KSU) Homecoming celebration – “Sensational”. This year’s events began on Sunday, September 29, and will end on Sunday, October 6. Students, alumni, special guests, and the local community will enjoy a series of events throughout Homecoming Week.
“In the spirit of academic excellence, collaboration, and healthy competition, I would like to emphasize that this truly is more than a game,” said Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo, KSU President. “Homecoming is the time to reconnect, recommit, and rejoice in the rich history of KSU.”
For the safety of homecoming guests and access throughout downtown Frankfort, there will be minor route adjustments to the annual community parade. The parade route will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 5 on the grounds of the Kentucky Capitol and end at the Capitol Bridge; the parade is expected to end at Noon. More information will be shared in the coming days.
The signature events are the Homecoming Football game and the Battle of the Bands on Saturday, October 5 where the Kentucky State Thorobreds battle Lane College Dragons at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. The game will broadcast live on HBCU Plus, bringing the excitement of Kentucky State football to fans nationwide. HBCU Plus can be accessed on multiple streaming platforms and smart devices.
