Criminal Justice Careers

The Criminal Justice Education degree provides a strong foundation for advanced study in Criminal Justice and/or law school. Upon graduation, students may find sworn or civilian employment opportunities with positions in law enforcement, corrections, the legal system, juvenile justice or academia.   

Criminal Justice Career Paths

• Law enforcement careers may include federal agent, state trooper, municipal police officer, sheriff/deputy sheriff, constable, K-9 unit, investigator, arson investigator, hazardous devices investigator, campus safety officer, wildlife/conservation officer, telecommunicator, crime scene investigator, loss prevention, and private security specialist.
• Corrections careers may include warden, correctional officer, probation officer, parole officer, juvenile correctional officer, juvenile parole agent and corrections/juvenile counselor.
• Court system careers may include judge/magistrate, prosecuting attorney, defense attorney, court reporter, paralegal/legal secretary, bailiff, and clerk.
• Academic careers may include university professor, researcher, professor of law and instructor.
• Civilian administrative/support staff positions in all areas of the criminal justice system including polygraph examiner and criminal intelligence analyst.
