Biography

A Native of Cincinnati, Ohio and a graduate of Central State University in Wilberforce Ohio, Churi has choreographed and structured several renowned high school dance teams as well as performed in several prestigious venues in the State of Michigan such as Music Hall and Orchestra Hall of Detroit, Michigan.  As a Performing Arts Instructor for the Inkster Public School District in Inkster, Michigan, Churi assisted in establishing the Inkster Fine Arts Academy as she was the first dance instructor of the school. While in Inkster, she also wore the hat of Director of Musicals and Plays.  While in Inkster, she directed the Broadway Musical Productions, “Dream Girls” and “The Wiz”.  She also produced and directed two of her original works, “Bebe`s Family Christmas” and a gospel musical that she penned, “Look Up To Get Out”.

During her career at Oak Park Public Schools in Oak Park, Michigan she again directed the Broadway play “Dream Girls”, as well as developed another stellar female dance team for the Oak Park School District that assisted the marching band as well as produced their own dance recitals and performed at many major community events in and around the metropolitan Detroit area.

Churi has also studied dance under the legendary Dr. Penny Godboldo, who is the Department Chair of Dance at Marygrove College in Detroit, Mi.  Dr. Godboldo is a master instructor of the Lester Horton dance technique.  Churi is versed in various styles and genres of dance.
