Students who are selected to participate in the program must:
- Be a United States citizen (or have documentation of becoming a citizen).
- Have a need for academic assistance.
In addition, students must meet one or more of the following primary eligibility criteria:
- Be a first-generation college student (neither mother nor father have a college degree).
- Verified as a low-income student as defined by the federal government.
- Have a documented physical disability or learning disability.
Also, students who participate will commit to the mission and goals of the Student Support Services program.
- Maintain full time status with a grade point average of 2.5 or greater.
- Meet with the SSS counselor as scheduled each semester (twice a week)
- Notify the SSS office of any changes to name, address, phone, or any pertinent data relative to demographic or contact information or if tutoring assistance is received outside of SSS
- Seek tutoring immediately upon experiencing difficulty in any enrolled class.
- Participate in SSS sponsored workshops and activities each semester.
- Attend tutoring sessions if:
- Grade point average is less than 2.5
- A letter grade of “C” or less is received on any graded assignment.
- Fill-out the application packet
- Unofficial transcript (must include ACT/SAT scores)
- School schedule
- Financial aid award letter
- Documentation of insurance (private or student health)
- Letter from the Offices of Disability Resource Services, if applicable
- Application review by an SSS Counselor or the Director
- Interview with an SSS Counselor or the Director
- If selected, acceptance letter will be sent within 1 week
