The safety, security and well-being of Kentucky State University students is a top priority for our campus community. Campus police is aware of an off-campus fatal incident. Our prayers are with all those affected by this incident. With the rise in violent crimes across the nation, students are advised to stay alert and aware of their surroundings at all times.
We all contribute to campus safety and security, and here are a few things students can do to ensure their personal safety:
- Register for campus alerts and use this as your main source of emergency information
- Stay alert and aware of your surroundings at all times by leaving headphones off and by looking up from cell phones and electronic devices
- Never walk alone at night; call Campus Police at (502) 597-6878 for an escort
Students in need of support are encouraged to access counseling services on campus. Beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, Mr. William Mynk (Licensed Counselor) and Dr. Pernella Deams (Dean of Student Leadership, Conduct, and Health) will be available to meet with students in the Student Center, Suite 320. The Vice President of Student Engagement and Campus Life, Dr. Derek Greenfield, will remain on-call during this week to speak with students about any concerns and can be reached at any time at (919) 696-1489.
