Kentucky State University President M. Christopher Brown II will officially welcome and introduce the new administration to the campus community when he convenes faculty and staff August 14 for Encampment 2017.

The day-long event, formerly known as the Fall Institute, kicks off the academic year for Kentucky State. Encampment brings together Frankfort community leaders, faculty, staff, students and alumni in finding new and effective ways of developing ideas, pursuing innovative strategies and applying knowledge for the public good and in order to better position Kentucky State for continued academic excellence and goal attainment.

Topics to be addressed include, but are not limited to: realignment of divisions, evaluation of academic programs, civic engagement, enrollment analysis, residence life needs, student success and campus life, among others.

“Encampment drives meaningful discussions, collaboration and informs the campus community of strategic initiatives that will help us achieve our multi-year goals,” President Brown said. “Working together, we seek our greatest opportunities and potential.”

Encampment seminar leader Edwin J. Nichols, Ph.D., is a clinical/industrial psychologist working in organization development. He is the director of Nichols and Associates, Inc., an applied behavioral science firm. Nichols co-authored Cultural Competence in America’s Schools: Leadership, Engagement and Understanding.

He has provided his services to Fortune 500 corporations, foreign governments, national government agencies, parastatals, associations, health and mental health systems.
