Academic Areas (Schools and Colleges)
By choosing to invest in a specific academic unit, you are casting your vote of confidence in that instructional program. Moreover, you are supplying the necessary support to enhance established initiatives but also provide resources to create others. Either way, you are enriching the lives of the students by expanding their opportunities.
Supporting the university’s scholarship initiatives is the most direct way alumni and friends of the university can make a difference in the lives of our students. Scholarships expand opportunities for undergraduate students by allowing the university to recognize and reward outstanding academic achievement and by helping to open KSU’s doors to students who would otherwise not be able to afford college.
KSU is dedicated to creating a comprehensive educational experience for our students. We provide opportunities that complement the academic curricula and help students overcome obstacles. We operate many of the programs and services of daily life, including housing, dining, recreation, student organizations, health care, counseling, and career development.
University Fund (Unrestricted)
Kentucky State University relies on an annual base of unrestricted funds to support a wide variety of university programs, special projects, new research initiatives, and individual students. The University Fund is the foundation of this annual support, giving the university the ability to respond immediately to areas of greatest need.
On Oct. 17, 2014, the Founder’s Day Convocation speaker JoAnn James, a 1986 KSU graduate, encouraged all alumni and friends to GIVE 9 “out of love and respect” for President Raymond M. Burse who made headlines for giving $90,000 of his salary to increase the pay of the University’s lowest-paid workers. You can accept the challenge by giving any amount that includes the number 9– meaning $9, $90, or $900.
