What is my KSU account information?

 Students

All student KSU accounts are created when you are enrolled at the university.

Account Information

  • Your username will be [First Name].[Last Name]
  • Your initial password will be [Ksu] + [your KSU Student ID number] typed without hyphens. Please note that passwords are case sensitive.
  • Example: John Doe has a KSU student ID of 987654. His username would be john.doe and his initial password would be Ksu987654.

Faculty and Staff

All faculty and staff KSU accounts are created when you are hired by the university, providing that you have been entered into the Banner system and assigned a KSU ID number.

Account Information

  • Your username will be [First Name].[Last Name]
  • Example: john.doe
  • Please contact the IT Help Desk at (502) 597-7000 for your initial password.

What are the KSU password guidelines?

After you initially log in, you will be required to have to change your KSU account password.

  • Passwords must be at least 8 characters in length.
  • Passwords must contain at least one of the following: Upper-case alphabet character (eg. A, C, Q, etc.) or special character (eg. *, %, !, etc.) or numeric character (eg. 1, 2, 4, etc.).
  • Must not have any part of your name in it.
  • Cannot match the last 3 passwords.

Passwords expire every 180 days.


What is my W.I.R.E.D. account information?

Students

New Students

  • Your “User ID” is your student id number.
  • If you apply over the Internet, you will create your own pin during the Admission process.
  • If you did not apply via the Internet, you will need to contact the One-Stop Shop for your pin at (502) 597-5884.

If you forget your PIN, contact the One-Stop Shop at (502) 597-5884.

Continuing Students

  • Your “User ID” is your student id number.
  • Your initial PIN is your birth date in the form of mmddyy. (yy is the last 2 digits of the birth year; for example, a birth date of February 3, 1991 would be entered as 020391).

If you cannot log in with your PIN, contact the One-Stop Shop at (502) 597-5884.

  • Note: It is extremely important that you change all PINS or passwords after you first log in.

Why was I locked out of my KSU account?

As a security precaution, After 3 tries of failed password attempts, you will be locked out of your account.


How do I get my KSU account unlocked?


Can I use my personal email address instead of my KSU email address?

We strongly recommend use of your KSU email address when conducting university business because important messages from the university are often only sent by email.  Also, the IT department will use this address to keep users informed of application updates, warning, training and other technical information.


Where do I go to sign into my KSU accounts?

Access to the various KSU accounts can be found from many locations on the KSU website, one place being the KSU website homepage or under KSU Connect.


My child can’t access their e-mail or has forgotten their password. H ow do I help them?

Passwords are considered confidential information and will not be given to anyone other than the account holder. The best thing a parent can do to help is have the student contact the IT Help Desk at (502) 597-7000. A Help Desk technician will be happy to assist them.


How do I sign up to receive emergency text messages in the event of bad weather?

KSU encourages all current student, faculty and staff to sign up for the KSU Alert system.

  • Sign up for the KSU alert.
  • If you are unable to sign up, you may contact the IT Help Desk online at www.kysu.edu/helpdesk(on campus only), through email at helpdesk@kysu.edu(24×7, response within 1 business day) or by calling (502) 597-7000 (8:00 am – 4:30 pm M-F). Provide the Help Desk with your name, phone number & cell phone provider (AT&T, Verizon, etc.). We will be glad to assist you.

In order to provide timely and reliable service, the point of contact for all technical assistance must be made to the IT Help Desk. To contact the IT Help Desk, submit a service request at www.kysu.edu/helpdesk, call the Help Desk at extension 7000 or send an e-mail to helpdesk@kysu.edu.
