Campaign Co-Chair Raymond M. Burse is a former vice president and general counsel at GE Appliances & lighting, a role he assumed in 2004 following the merger of GE Consumer Products and GE Industrial Systems.
He served as general counsel for GE Consumer Products from 2002 to 2004 and general counsel for GE Appliances from May 2002 to September 2004 and general counsel for GE Appliance from May 2002 to September 2002. Burse joined GE in 1995 as senior counsel for commercial law. Before joining GE, he was a partner in the law firm of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs in Louisville, Ky., from 1989 to 1995, and president of Kentucky State University from 1982 to 1989.
Previously, Burse was an associate in the law firm of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs beginning in 1978.
Burse is active in a number of community activities, including serving as vice chair of the Center for Creative Leadership and as a member of the Alabama A&M University Board of Trustees.
Campaign Co-Chair John Hall joined Ashland Inc. in 1957 as a chemical engineer, and then quickly began moving up the ranks.
He served as vice president and director, and in 1971 became president of Ashland Chemical Company. He was elected executive vice president of the corporation in 1974. He then served as vice chairman of the board and as chief operating officer in 1979. He became the chief executive officer in 1981.
He retired as CEO in 1996 and as board chair in 1997. He was the first chairman of Arch Coal Company and retired from that position in 1998.Hall is chairman of the Commonwealth Fund for Kentucky Educational Television, president of the Kentucky Historical Society Foundations and past chairman of the Blue Grass Community Foundation.
