Did you know that you can earn college credits while you are in high school? Qualified high school students can earn college credits to fulfill college degree requirements. These same credits can be used toward a degree at Kentucky State University or another state of Kentucky public institution of your choice. However, if you are considering attending a private and/or college outside of the state of Kentucky, you may wish to verify the courses will be accepted toward your degree.
It’s never too early to start thinking about college. Kentucky State University is here to help you excel!
About Our Program
About our Program Dual credit refers to courses offered in a cooperative arrangement with local school districts. The purpose of dual credit course offerings is to provide a mechanism through which high school students can earn college credit while simultaneously meeting their high school graduation requirements by taking courses in the high school setting that provide university credit. Students enrolled in dual c/e courses earn college credit for courses taken prior to entry into college which leads to:
- Earlier graduation from college
- Decreased need for financial aid
- Increase in college preparation and career readiness
Finally, dual credit benefits school systems which have limited resources to offer advanced courses, as well as the combining of foundational courses that have similar content for the both the high school and college entry-level curriculum.
To the left can be found directions for enrolling and registering as a dual credit student, a list of fall 2015 dual credit courses, an online application, parent/counselor verification form and other helpful information and tips. Visit your new KSU student accounts Upon admission, all KSU students will be provided with a WIRED, BLACKBOARD and KSU EMAIL account. Newly admitted students will need to check and make sure these accounts are active and accessible once they have received their KSU student ID number by email.
