Background and Interests
In WYS I have taught most of the regularly offered courses, but recently I have most often taught sophomore seminars, writing labs, Latin, Preparation for Senior Essay, and Senior Essay. Among the elective courses I have taught are a series of elective courses in the major religions of the world and in literature of the quest, and a course team-taught with Dr. Anne Butler called “Kentucky 1861” using a Reacting to the Past game by that title. Since 1990 I have been a Trustee and campus representative at KSU for the Co-Operative Center for Study Abroad, through which I have taught and directed many study-abroad programs in England, Ireland, and Australia. I have served five terms as Faculty Senate Secretary and President, and I was KSU’s Faculty Regent from AY 2010 through 2013. In published scholarship I have published essays on Chaucer and on the medieval literature of mysticism, and I have delivered a series of papers on the English Romantic poets.
