The Music Area is one of three academic areas in the Division of Fine Arts—Art, Music, and Speech and Theatre. It is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and is a member of the Kentucky Association of College Music Departments (KACMD). Ten full-time and two part-time faculty teach courses of study that lead to the degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Music, with elective tracks in music production, composition/arranging, jazz studies, and performance; Bachelor of Music, with major tracks in performance and music education; and Minor in Music Performance. Applied areas include voice, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and piano.
Music Scholarships and Other Financial Aid
Music scholarships are available to vocal and instrumental music majors and non-music majors based on a performance audition. KSU offers academic merit and need-based financial assistance, ranging from Presidential Scholarships to part-time employment. KSU is committed to helping qualified students attend, regardless of their financial circumstances.
