November 10th, 2013 | Kentucky State University’s Division of Fine Arts presented the Elysian Trombone Consort in Bradford Hall’s Carl H. Smith Auditorium. The trombone quartet includes Dr. Nathan Siler, Adjunct Professor of Low Brass and Music History at KSU, and faculty members from the University of Louisville, the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University. The recital was a preview of the quartet’s performance at the University of Louisville’s New Music Festival (Nov. 13-17), featuring music of Brett Dean, Raymond Horton, David Faleris, Frederick Speck and John Siler.

November 1st, 2013 | Jae Won Kim (Staff Accompanist) and Mark Tollefsen (Assistant Professor of Piano and Music Theory) performed a joint piano recital for the Frankfort Arts Foundation’s 2013 Arts & Culture Season Series. Their program included solo works by Beethoven, Dallapiccola, Liszt, Mozart, Poulenc, Rachmaninoff, and Scriabin as well as Mendelssohn’s “Overture” from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice , both arranged for one-piano, four-hands. The concert was advertised in the State Journal  and recorded for re-broadcast on Cable10, Frankfort Plant Board’s cable channel.
